The boulevard’s beloved bagel store, Sam’s Bagels, moved two doors north to a spanking new location in the same building, half the size of the old spot but twice as nice.
“It’s amazing,” Sam’s Bagel’s Manager Edwin Sierra told the Larchmont Buzz. “Everything is new – the furnishings, the oven, the whole place. But designed with the feel of the 1940s. Our customers are really happy – we’ve seen increased sales.”
The move happened mid August when many Larchmont Villagers were away on summer vacation. Gone is the large showy sign and now a more discreet sign and  lattice ironwork beckon bagel lovers inside. The front portion of the store is set up for outdoor dining, offering shade and a bit of distance from the sidewalk, with exposed brick walls. Inside, the long wooden farm tables with wall benches and stamped concrete floors offers a nice mix of farmhouse meets clean industrial – all very pleasing to the eye.
Not changed: Edwin behind the counter, the same delicious chewy bagels from Sam’s original recipe, a variety of breakfast and lunch sandwiches made to order, and the giant sculptural relief of a bagel that graced, or loomed, over the original store counter. It’s back in place in the new digs, and everyone seems to be the happier for it.
