Land Use Issues on Wednesday’s GWNC Agenda

On Wednesday, August 10, the Greater Wilshire Neighborhood Council will address a lengthy list of land use issues at its monthly board meeting.  Items on the agenda, along with motions recommended by the GWNC’s Land Use Committee, include:

  • 421 S. Wilton Place – Application for the demolition of existing single-family dwelling and construction of four Small Lot Homes on a 6,625 square-foot lot in the R3-1 (multi-family) zone. A city hearing is scheduled for Sept. 9, 2016. The GWNC Land Use Committee has recommended that the GWNC board support the project.
  • 5019 W. Maplewood Ave – Application for a Tentative Tract Map for a 5-unit condominium project with 10 parking spaces and 1 guest parking space. The GWNC Land Use Committee has recommended that the GWNC board oppose the application.
  • 507 N. Sycamore Ave. – Application for a Tentative Tract Map to construct a new 6-unit Small Lot Subdivision project, with a height of 33.5 feet in lieu of the 30 feet allowed.  A city hearing is scheduled for September 7.  The GWNC Land Use Committee has recommended that the GWNC board oppose the application.
  • 743 N. June Street – Application for a Hardship Exemption within a current Interim Control Ordinance area to add 432 sf to the back of a single family house, increasing its square footage from 1,146 sq. ft. to 1,578 sq. ft., maintaining the 12 ft. height, and without changing the home’s façade. The GWNC Land Use Committee has recommended that the GWNC board support the application.
  • Small Lot Subdivision Code Amendment and Policy Update – Comments on the city’s proposed revisions to its Small Lot Subdivision Ordinance are due by August 8, 2016. The GWNC Land Use Committee has recommended that the GWNC Board support the proposed changes.
  • HPOZ Ordinance Proposed Revisions – The deadline for public comments on the city’s proposed revisions to its Historic Preservation Overlay Zone Ordinance is August 11, 2016.  The GWNC Land Use Committee has recommended that the GWNC Board support the Planning Department’s proposed changes to the ordinance.

The GWNC Board meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at the Ebell of Los Angeles, 4400 Wilshire Blvd.  Free parking is available in the large lot on the west side of the Ebell complex (enter from 8th Street). Everyone is welcome, and public comments will be heard on both these and other issues.
