Magnificent magnolias are blooming now, displaying stunning white to pink flowers. The Magnolia soulangeana, or Saucer Magnolia, often called a Tulip Tree, is likely the variety we are seeing with its characteristic white to pink or purplish red, fragrant flowers. According to the Sunset Western Garden book, this Magnolia is deciduous and blooms from late winter into spring before the leaves emerge and as they open. To this amateur, they seem to be blooming now so be sure to look around for these lovely trees that grace our neighborhood. Thanks to our neighbors who nurture and care for these lovely trees.
