Driving around our area one can’t help but notice that the usual slate of temporary Halloween stores has grown and become a bit more formalized. Halloween pop-up chain Spirit Halloween has moved in to three empty retail locations in our area…setting up the seasonal company to do big business over the next 10 days.
Spirit Halloween is a division of Spencer’s Gifts and is responsible for about 50% of Spencer’s overall $250 million in revenue, according to Forbes. Their business model is to rent large retail spaces that have been sitting vacant for long periods of time. They generally pay a premium to rent the space temporarily – for two months. And it all pays off…as the company currently boasts over 1,000 temporary locations nationwide.
