After more than 20 years on La Brea Ave., Ca’Brea Italian restaurant has moved to 3900 Wilshire Blvd. (at St. Andrews Place).  According to Marine Degirmendjian, mother of chef/owner George Degirmendjian, who has run the restaurant for the past eight years, Ca’Brea still specializes in Northern Italian food but the new decor is “more casual/rustic and up to date.”

The new space, located on the ground floor of the Ramada Inn on Wilshire, is full of light, a sharp contrast to the old space with almost no windows. The large open space is filled with tables, with a smaller section in the back and several roomy booths along the side.

“It was very difficult to find a space that was big enough,” explained Marine, who said the restaurant was forced to leave its La Brea location because the landlord significantly raised the rent, despite past assurances that he wouldn’t do so.

GerogeDegirmendjian“Everyone has good memories at Ca’Brea; I am happy we found a place to continue,” said Marine.   She said the new location still serves its many loyal customers, many of whom live near their new location.  “Everyone has been very welcoming,” she said, sharing a story from Monday’s edition of the Korea Times, which featured the restaurant and a photo of her son.  Marine credited yesterdays’s brisk business to the appearance of the article.

Ca’Brea serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and is open all day from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. There’s valet parking and access to street parking on St. Andrews Place.
