Many of LADWP’s power poles were installed between the 1940s and the 1960s and are now coming to the end of their useful lives. As part of a “critical infrastructure improvement project necessary to ensure continued power reliability for customers in the Larchmont Village area,” the DWP is now “aggressively working to upgrade or replace critical aging power infrastructure, with special focus on power poles.”
And as part of that work, starting on Monday, May 16, they will be replacing the power poles in the alley between Larchmont Blvd. and Lucerne Blvd., from Beverly Blvd. to 1st Street.  The work, which will continue approximately through November of this year, will take place Mondays through Saturdays, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., possibly including some Sundays.  (Crews may also work extended hours Tuesday through Thursday until 6 p.m. to expedite the project.)
 Other important details:
• The alley will be occasionally closed to through traffic in order to conduct work safely; however, access to the alley and businesses will be maintained.
• For safety reasons, power service to customers may be interrupted temporarily during the project. Customers will be given a two-day advance notification if any planned outage will last more than 2 hours.
