For those who may have been wondering about the recent nighttime and weekend utility work on Melrose Ave., the bad news is that it’s going to continue for a while…but the very, very good news is that it is addressing the recent power system failures in the neighborhood and improving our local infrastructure for better future performance. Here are the details from LADWP:
LADWP is in the process of performing emergency work to replace an entire circuit along a stretch of Melrose Ave. and other nearby streets in the Hancock Park/Larchmont area. This emergency measure is necessary to improve power system reliability in the area and help prevent any future outages in that neighborhood like the ones experienced during the early July heat storm. This project is scheduled to continue through November 2018. Because of limitations in the work permit issued by the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT), LADWP can only conduct this work at night in certain sections of this project. Work hours at night in those designated sections are 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday, and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information about this project, please contact Michael Ventre, LADWP Community Affairs, at (213) 367-1381 or at [email protected]
