The Los Angeles Bureau of Sanitation is notifying area residents that a job action resulting in 60% of its collection drivers failing to report to work on Wednesday, April 1, could continue through the weekend.
Despite this significant reduction in staffing, crews were redeployed throughout the day Wednesday to ensure collection of all black solid waste bins across the city. “Our commitment to public health dictated that we collect every black bin,” said Director Enrique C. Zaldivar, P.E.
Only 20% of the drivers were out on Thursday. L.A. Sanitation continues to prioritize black solid waste bins. Residents are asked to put out all bins and leave them out until they are collected. The LA Bureau of Sanitation is working to be caught up on blue and green bins by Saturday evening.
Bulky item collections will be rescheduled.
Area residents can check in on the LA Bureau of Sanitation website for updates and more information.
