Halloween Fun Within 5 Miles From Home

Even though Monday, October 31st is not an official holiday, this sure feels like a holiday weekend!  There are a lot of Halloween themed things to do this weekend…here are a few suggestions:

  • Tim Burton Exhibit at LACMA will officially close at midnight on October 31st.  Have you put it off and can’t believe the end is here?  Or perhaps you want to see it one last time?  This weekend is actually the best of all times to celebrate Tim Burton’s vision – Halloween is his favorite holiday!  Check in on the LACMA Website for the specifics, including a Vincent Price Film Marathon and a Tim Burton-themed costume ball.   The LACMA Tim Burton Exhibit will be open for 38 straight hours starting at 10A on Sunday, October 30th.  Tickets half price ($10).  All ages.
    • Cleverly, LACMA has chosen this weekend as the time to celebrate Vincent Price’s 100th Birthday…6 Vincent Price films back to back, starting at 1P on Sunday, October 30th (free).  FYI – The Fly airs at 7:30P!
  • Los Angeles Haunted Hayride at Griffith Park (near the Old Zoo) sounds fun, looks utterly scary and is a perfect thing to do with a group of teens (if they dare).  Be sure to go over the website with a fine-tooth comb for all the safety warnings, etc.  Check the LA Haunted Hayride Website to get more details and to buy tickets in advance. Hayrides take place this Friday – Monday starting at 7P. Not recommended for children under 10.
  • EEK at the Greek is a Halloween celebration of spooky classical music as interpreted by Los Feliz/Griffith Park based Symphony in the Glen. The festivities take place at The Greek Theater on Saturday, October 29th.  The evening starts with a trick-or-treating/costume contest at 5:30P. Tickets are $20 Adults/$7 Children.  Learn more here – The Greek Theater Website. (Free Parking) Families.
  • The LA County Natural History Museum is the place for Spider Pavilion/Haunted Museum Spooky Scavenger Hunt! Spiders are perhaps one of the scariest creatures decorating many of our Hancock Park, Windsor Square and Larchmont Village homes.  What a great season to help your kids learn more about these hairy creatures!  This self-guided, creepy hunt through the museum is happening now – through Monday, October 31st.  Learn more here – LA Weekly Spider Pavilion/Haunted Museum Scavenger Hunt Details. Young kids.
